Tuesday Talk

Happy Tuesday Ladies!

Friday is coming.....right???  Ha!

Over the past few months I have gotten a handful of emails and comments that they wish I would stop trying to "push" items and trying to make money off the people who read my blog.  I know there are LOTS of people who use their blogs to provide income for themselves and their families, but that isn't what I am doing, or ever intend to do.  When I talk about a product, it isn't because I want you to click the link, so I can make some money, or go run and buy it, it's because it is something that I personally use and love, and just want to share it with other people.  I know for me, I love when someone recommends something they love, not because they are making money off it, but because they really love it.  If you "click" something I have written about, I can assure you I am not receiving any type of compensation for it, I am just sharing it because I own it, and love it enough to talk about it.  I think it is great that there are women out there brining in some serious money from their blogs, but for me, I just don't have that kind of time to put into, and honestly it never once crossed my mind to try and make money off this blog.

I am writing about this today, because a few of the emails I received said I was being "sneaky" not disclosing that I was receiving some type of commission for the products I talked about.  I appreciate everyone, even the not so nice ones, that take a little piece of their day to read what I have to say, and I certainly don't want anyone thinking that I am being sneaky making money if someone clicks on something I talk about!

Hope everyone has a great day!  See you back here tomorrow!

  2. I appreciate that your recommending things without getting a commission. Several of the blogs you model yourself after are not so honest and go to great lengths to hide how the make money. I hate that they are making money off of people who don't understand how rstyle works. I know multiple people have emailed those blogs d asking them to discuss how rstyle works but they continue to keep it hidden and act like they are just doing us a favor. They are not the Christian they claim to be. Anyway, thanks for addressing this. I appreciate your honesty.

  3. I am the exact same way, Kimm! I work a full time job plus being a mom, wife, and everything else under the sun! My blog is for ME! It's our family scrapbook. I don't have the time or the desire to promote it. If you want to read my blog, then please do, and if you don't, then don't!

  4. I love seeing your (and others) recommendations, so don't stop! I have gotten lots of great ideas by hearing about items that other bloggers love. Don't stop what you're doing. I enjoy your blog, whether you are making money from affiliate links or not! :) Hang in there.

    1. Hi Tanya! Thanks for taking the time to comment today. I love when people recommend things, so that's what I do just share things that I like. I just wanted to be sure people reading knew I wasn't making money or trying to be sneaky about it. Thanks for reading girl!!! Have a great day.

  5. When I post affiliate links, which I literally just STARTED doing a few weeks ago, I always post a disclaimer at the bottom; in super tiny font, but at least it's there! If you can make money off a blog, then go for it! I've been blogging for 6 years now ? and money had never been my intention either!

    1. I have absolutely nothing against women who use their blog as an income. I just didn't want anyone to think I was receiving commission or anything and not disclosing it

    2. Why tiny font? If there's nothing to hide, then put it out there for your readers.

  6. Why the super tiny font?

    1. Believe me, it is visible, and I fully disclose any affiliate links on my blog, but I don't want to shout it from the rooftops or make it appear as my regular post. My blurb is on all of my posts that contain any affiliate links. It's disclosed; I definitely want to disclose to my readers that affiliate links do happen, and many bloggers do not even go that far.

    2. I'm so glad that yku disclose it;). I absolutely have no issues with it, but it's my opinion it should always be known to the readers. Thanks girl !

    3. But...why not shout it from the rooftops? If there's nothing wrong? Super tiny font makes it seem like you're trying to hide it. Just be direct and straightforward about it.

  7. It's deceiving. I'm glad you don't do it Kimm. Most people don't know these "sweet" bloggers are making money off of them. I wish everyone knew what was really going on with some of these shady bloggers.

    1. I have no problem with anyone who does this, it's my opinion they should absolutely disclose it , but for me I just share things that I actually love and use. Thanks for taking the time to read and comment today!

  8. I agree with the other comments. I'm so tired of other bloggers pushing products on unsuspecting moms who read their blogs. If someone is going to do it, fine-just be open and honest about it.

I applaud you for your honesty. It makes me want to come back to your blog, as opposed to the other underhanded ones.

  9. Betting those people that complain don't have a problem with the giveaways that the bloggers have because of the affiliates .

    1. I think it's fantastic if you can earn an income to help your family through your blog, and I have absolutely nothing against it at all. The giveaways are fun, and I think as long as you are always up front with your readers than no one really has a problem with it. Thanks for taking the time to read and comment

  10. Some people have too much time on their hands. I enjoy your blog and I like seeing recommendations. I don't care if you or any other blogger makes a dollar or more off me clicking the link. I pay the same price either way and.some bloggers with good traffic even post discount codes. I didn't make the effort or take the time to try to do that... so what's so wrong with the blogger getting paid. Keep the suggestions coming!

    1. Hey Lisa! thank you for taking the time to comment and I agree with you. I could care less if someone is making money off their blog, and I love and appreciate the discount codes they offer from time to time. I just wanted to let people know who thought I was being sneaky by not disclosing it, that I don't use affiliate links. And yes...some people have way too much time on their hands. Have a great day
