Happy New Year

Hello Ladies.....Happy New Year!

I still cannot believe it is 2017....every year seems to fly by quicker and quicker.  I hope you all had a great weekend celebrating and ringing in the New Year.

I stopped making New Year's Resolutions a few years back, because well I am usually good for a month, and then that is about it...then I wait until the next year and make all the same resolutions, it's a vicious cycle.  Last year I decided to do monthly goals, and well I did OK for the first few months, but again, like my resolutions, and a few months in, I just stopped setting new goals each month, and really did not look back and see if I met the goals I had set for myself.

Change is hard, breaking old habits is hard, and for me, making some big resolution has been hard.  Last year was a roller coaster for me, lots of highs and lots of lows.  October marked our one year in our new home state, and it was definitely a rough year adjusting to our new place to call home.  2016 was definitely one of the hardest years for me, I was shown time and time again how hard being a parent is, how hard marriage can be, how mean people can be and how sometimes it can be so hard to just find peace and just be happy and appreciative with what it is you have, without constantly "wanting" more, and learning to just not let what others think get to you.  I am not sorry to see 2016 go!

For 2017, I don't have any resolutions, rather I am just going to wake up each day and just be the best "me" I can be.  My life isn't perfect, but it is perfect for me and my family.  I think we all always want more "things", it seems as though so many of us are just never quite content with what we have, and we are always looking for something more...and for 2017, I am not going to let that be me.  I mean sure, there are always things I am going to want, but I know that I have so much, and I am going to just be happy with what I already do have, rather than continuing to add "things" to my life, just because "everyone" has it, or because it is the most popular must have thing that month.

This last year has really taught to me to never ever take anything for granted, to never just assume someone or something will always be there, and that focusing on what is within my own 4 walls is the absolute most important thing, and truly nothing else outside of that matters.  This last year has also taught me that I need to work on myself, I am not a terrible wife, mom or person, but there is definitely room for improvement.  So 2017 is going to be about just trying to be the best that I can be each day.  I know some days will be hard, and I am going to work on not letting that get me down, that bad days are part of life, and the best thing to do is wake up the next day, and keep going, not to let it keep you down.

I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday season, and I am so happy to be back, blogging and connecting with all of you!  I am looking forward to a great year!

Be sure to check back tomorrow, I am going to share some of favorite items from 2016!

  1. I suck at resolutions, too, so I'm with you on just being the best me I can be! Glad you're back in the blogging world! I've missed you!! Happy New Year!

  2. I'm totally with you about just waking up each day and kicking ass. I always forget my resolutions half way through the year anyway.

  3. Welcome back to the blog world! I can't wait to see what 2017 has in store for you. I bet it will be easier and better than 2016!

  4. What a great post! I'm so glad that you're back. :) I know that I am a happier person when I concern myself with only my marriage and family, nurturing each of them. Our time is precious, and I do my best at making the most of each day. Happy new year to you and your family!

  5. That's a GREAT not-a-resolution for 2017! Cheers!
