Workin' It Wednesday

Hello Ladies!

Today I am linking up with Shay and Erika for "Working' It Wednesdays"!

Today we are talking about how we keep our kids entertained during the summer.  When I had Brooke and Harrison I always made sure to jam pack their summers full of camps and activities to keep them busy.  After about two years of doing that, and being totally stressed out about having to be someplace and continuing with a strict schedule, and fighting with them about getting up and going I realized that it just wasn't for us.  So by the time I had Jack, AJ and then Olivia I had learned that keeping our summers carefree was what worked best for us.  

We are busy during the school year, as the kids have gotten older their workload is tough, they have sports and activities, and they really crave the downtime and laziness of summer...and I am FINE with that!

The boys are 15 & 13, so their summers consist of staying up way too late playing video games and sleeping until at least noon.  And I let them do that.  In just a few weeks Jack will start summer workouts for football and have to be up and out the door by 7 am, and AJ will follow soon after that.  Olivia is very laid back as well, and loves not having a strict schedule and routine to adhere to during the summer months.  

My kids are pretty easy going, and they don't need to be constantly entertained, they are awesome at entertaining themselves!  So now that they are a little older, keeping them entertained over the summer is easy peasy!  They are happy to stay up late, sleep in, and swim all day.  

I love having my kids home..I love the break from packing lunches, signing agendas and reading logs, we all love being home together just hanging out.  Now that being said come August we will all be getting on each other's nerves and all craving routine and schedule again!

Friday Favorites

Hello Ladies!

Hope you all had a great week!  We have now been out of school for 2 weeks and it is glorious!  We are loving our lazy days!

ONE

Olivia is a big kid now...each day I see less and less little girl and more and more "big kid"...and I love watching her grow up and change but the time has just flown by with her.  Every now and again I catch little glimpses, like this of her sleeping on the couch, that remind me she is still my little girl!  She is always my favorite!

TWO

Every day since school has been out she drags her bean bag chair and desk chair out into the kitchen and watches videos on her iPad...rough life for a 9 year old:)

THREE

It is no secret how much I love my Volcano candle from Anthro...I have talked about my love for them lots of times on here.  I don't have an Anthro close to my house, so I usually wind up ordering my candles, and their shipping is HIGH and I hate paying so much for shipping.  Well...I have ordered a few of the Volcano scent candles from Amazon, and they are pretty much identical.  The price is about the same as Anthro, so no savings there, but the free two day shipping makes me HAPPY!  I just got this pink volcano candle last week for our office, and I love it!  It smells great, and the pink jar is all sorts of fabulous.  If you love Antrho candles, check out Amazon and grab one!

FOUR

Mark had some free time at work last week, and sketched this picture of some trees...I thought it was pretty good!  He brought it home for me with a sweet little note in the corner, so I decided to put it in a frame and put it on my desk.  Anything handmade from someone who is special to me is always a favorite!

FIVE

This isn't the best picture...but I grabbed this chair for the boys room and I really like it.  They had been taking Olivia's bean bag chair to sit in while they played their video games, so when I saw this on Amazon, I ordered it right away.  It is sort of like a bean bag chair, but much more sturdy...the boys love it!  

SIX

I got this necklace a few months ago, and it has been my favorite everyday!  Being a stay at home mom, who pretty much stays home during the day, I don't really "get dressed" a lot during the week, and I rarely wear any of the fun, statement necklaces that I have.  I have pretty much worn this necklace every single day for the last 3 months or so.  It is simple and perfect for everyday!  Anything that I can get a ton of use out of is always a favorite for me!

SEVEN

Fun, colorful pool floats are our favorite. We get all our floats from Amazon, inexpensive and super fun!

Not sure what we have going on this weekend....we have had tons of rain this week (which we desperately needed), so I am hoping for a nice weekend and lots of pool time with my people!

Girl Chat Link Up...Summer Staples

Hello Girls!

Hope everyone is having a GREAT week so far!

Today I am linking up with Danielle , Emily , Lindsay , Lizzie , and Sierra for "Girl Chat"....and today we are chatting all about our favorite summer staple items!  

Living in the South I feel like it is pretty much summer all the time...and I am not going to lie...I miss the season from up North.  Now, I am not saying I want to be snowed in 3 months a year, but I definitely miss cold winter days and seeing snow...and not like the pathetic snow falls that fall in NC.

As much as I miss wearing my UGGS, I have to say I am a flip flop girl!

The Tory Burch Miller sandal is hands down my FAVORITE...and definitely my #1 summer staple item.  I have them in the sand patent (pictured above), the black patent and the gold.  They are definitely a bit pricey for a flip flop, but I feel they are totally worth it.  I have had my sand colored pair for 5 years now, and I still wear them and they look great!  I wear them all the time, dressed up, dressed down, they are just a great shoe to have.

I have talked about these basic flip flops many times before...every few years I grab a new pair.  They are great for the beach, around the pool, to run errands...I wear mine constantly!

Graphic tees are another summer staple for me!  There are so super cute graphic tees out there right now...you can check out all my favorites here .

Living in a warmer climate, and having a pool in our backyard, bathing suits and cover ups are also summer staples!  I have never been one to spend a lot of money on a bathing suit, so all my suits come from Target, and I love them!  They are cute and don't break the bank.  Most of my cover ups are also from Target!

I have this swim top in the navy stripe and the black stripe...simple but cute.

I wear this green bottom with both tops....

and these yellow ones also...I just mix and match them all!

I have talked a million times before about my favorite nail polish..and still a year later OPI Let's Be Friends is still my favorite...especially for summer!  It is the perfect mix of pink and white!  If you are looking for a great summer polish you have to check it out!

We are BIG YETI fans over here...and this colster is a staple for us for sure.  We have two of the stainless ones, and then I have this pretty sea foam one and Mark has a matte black one.  We don't only use these during the summer, we literally use them every single day.  It keeps our canned drinks cold for HOURS!  We can leave it in the hot car, and hours later, our beverage is still ice cold.  I would recommend any YETI product for anyone who is planning on being outdoors in the heat this summer!  The products are a bit pricey, but in our opinion, they are totally worth it!  

So there are some of my summer must haves!  Can't wait to read what is on everyone's must have list this summer!

Friday Favorites

Hello Ladies!

Hope you all had a great week....we did and we are ready for the weekend!  The kids are super pumped about this being their last full week of school...2 full days next week and then a few half days to finish off the school year!

ONE

We spent Mother's Day drinking Starbucks and playing Pool Beer Pong, and it was the perfect day to spend with the ones that call me Mom!  Being their mom, and getting to spend the day with all 5 of them is my favorite!

THREE

Olivia wasn't feeling great Monday, and though that isn't my favorite...seeing her and Mark laying with Chico is definitely my favorite!

FOUR

This fun inflatable beer pong table arrived last weekend and it has been a favorite around here.  The kids are having so much fun with it!

FIVE

It's been a LONG time since AJ has played football...but my favorite this week was getting him signed up and starting some practices for the fall.  I am anxious to see my favorite player back in action ...and so happy that Harrison will once again be coaching his little brother!

My Favorite Graphic Tees

Hello Ladies

What a crazy time of year this is...this is our last full week of school, next week we have half days and then next Friday we are DONE...and we are pretty excited about that!  It is really true what they say...each year seems to go by quicker and quicker!  And I cannot even believe that AJ will be starting his final year in middle school come August...I am just not sure how that is possible!

Lately I am LOVING graphic tees!  I am all about being comfortable during the day, but I also like to be somewhat "ready" if I need to go run errands, stop at the kid's schools...whatever it may be.  I feel like my "uniform" as of late has been some cut-off denim shorts and a cute graphic tee...pretty much 7 days a week that is what you will find me in.  It is super comfy while I am doing housework, yet I still feel put together when I need to run out the door.

I have also gotten a few graphic tees from ShopBop, and while I pretty much love all of them, most of them are pretty pricey, in my opinion, for a t-shirt.  The few that I have, I got on sale.

I couldn't find this one online...but it is super soft...and just a fun tee to wear after a fun night out!

These two adorable tees I got from Jane.com ...they were super inexpensive, the only thing is they do take a little bit to ship...and I am pretty impatient when it comes to waiting for things I have ordered to arrive!

I got this adorable tee from JCrew...it is definitely one of my FAVORITES!

Friday Favorites

Hope you are all having a fantastic week so far!  We are super excited over here....we have just 3 more weeks of school and we are so happy about that!

You guys know how much I love a good neutral nail...and I have shared my favorite colors with you guys in the past!  I use Mod About You often when I get a pedicure, but always thought it was too pink for my nails...well I just ordered Mod About You Pastel in gel and I LOVE it...it is the perfect color!  It is definitely more white than pink!  If you're looking for a great summer color you should check it out!

TWO

Mark and I had lunch last weekend and these nachos....they were my favorite !!

THREE

These super cute Converse arrived this week and they are ADORABLE....the color is just perfect for spring and summer!  And they are 40% off right now!  Cute shoes at a great price...definitely a favorite!

FOUR

I have talked before about how much I love my Tory Burch Miller sandals...I have them in patent sand and gold...I have had them for years, and wear them all the time!  A few weeks ago I added these patent black ones and they are a great basic and I have been wearing them a ton!  I know these are a bit pricey....but I definitely think they are worth it.  My first two pairs are going on 4 years and still look great!  If you are looking for a great pair of sandals, I HIGHLY recommend these!

FIVE

Yesterday Mark and I spent the day cleaning our patio and then spending the afternoon poolside with a few drinks...and it was just perfect.  Quality time with my favorite guy is my FAVORITE!

SIX

This girl...if she isn't sleeping or at school she is swimming!  She was taking a little break eating some of Mark's leftovers!  Her sweet personality is always our favorite!

We are so ready for the weekend....these last few weeks of school are always the worst!  We are planning on lots of pool time Saturday and on Sunday have plans with some friends to spend the day on the boat with them...so we are looking forward to that!

Friday Favorites

It sure has been a while since I have blogged...life has been crazy and blogging is always the first thing to take a back seat!

ONE

There is nothing that I love more than sitting out back and looking at the beautiful sky...so peaceful and so gorgeous!

TWO

Last Friday was our anniversary, so Saturday we headed down to the beach, it rained most of the day, but the day ended with the prettiest sunset.  The beach, a sunset, good company...always a favorite for me.

THREE

Friday was our anniversary, and we stayed home...and it was perfect.  Mark made a delicious meal, we had some wine, and ate on the couch in our pajamas...it was PERFECT!

FOUR

Olivia was looking through the binoculars and thought she saw something, so her and Mark ventured out on their bikes to go look for it...these two and their sweet bond is a favorite for sure!

FIVE

Floating around in the pool is a favorite of the kiddos....as soon as they get home from school...in the pool they go!  Watching them play together, peacefully, without bickering, fighting and wanting to beat the heck out of each other is a favorite!

SIX

This meat chopper is my FAVORITE!  How in the heck did I live without this thing...saying it's life changing may be a bit extreme, but it is pretty darn close!  If you guys don't have this...do yourself a favor right now and head to Amazon and get yourself one!

SEVEN

This shirt.....my favorite...and I am sure pretty much every mom out there can totally relate!
