Thursday Thoughts

Hello Ladies!

I have written before about divorce and trying to keep a healthy relationship with your ex for the kids, many times before, and every time that Kenny leaves after a visit, it reinforces to me why I have worked so hard over the years to keep it all as friendly and civil as possible.

Marriage is HARD, most of us know this, but divorce is even harder.  Marriages end for a reason, so during that time, it isn't always easy to try and see the good in each other, and it is very easy to be mean and nasty.  People are hurt and angry, and lashing out and playing the blame game can become all too easy.

When I decided to get a divorce the only thing I was worried about was my children and how they were going to handle it, I wasn't interested in making my ex's life a living hell at all.  Now I know that not all divorces can be "friendly", but I really believe it is so important to try your hardest when there are children involved.

People ask me all the time, how do you do it, how can you be so friendly with your ex, and have him in your house, spending time with him?  Well for me the answer is so easy, my children...I do it for my children.  I am always going to be their mom, and Kenny is always going to be their dad, it doesn't matter if we are married or not.  And they deserve two parents who keep them a priority.  They didn't ask for their family to be broken apart, and they should never have to pay the price for our mistakes, and our failed marriage.

I met my ex-husband when I was 15 years old, we started out as friends, dated, got married and had a whole bunch of babies, and when we realized the marriage was over, we made sure we ended it how we started it...as friends.

Some days it is really hard, I would be lying if I said it was easy all the time.  But when we are all sitting on my couch, me, Mark, Kenny, the kids, and everyone is laughing, having a great time, I know it is ALL worth it.

My children will grow up never doubting for a second how very much they are loved.  They know they have a mom and 2 dads who love them more than life itself and would do anything for them.

These 5 kids are SO SO LOVED!

I realize that not all divorces can be this way, but I urge anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation to try your best to keep it as friendly and civil as possible.  I am not saying it is going to be easy, but I can tell you 100% that it is definitely worth it!

Thanks for stopping by today.  Be sure to check back tomorrow for Friday Favorites.

xoxo,
Kimm
