Thursday Thoughts...Getting Organized in 2016

Happy Thursday Ladies!

Seriously....one day!

With each new year that starts I always tell myself I am going to get organized, and well, I am pretty good for about a month, and well then life happens, and I immediately turn back into a scatter brain...which always leaves me feeling overwhelmed and stressed out!  Well this upcoming year, not only am I telling myself I am getting organized, I am going to be sure that I stay that way and hold myself accountable!

I love reading blogs, and my favorite posts are always the "monthly goals", I love reading everyone's goals, and I love how the following month they let us all know how they did!  It always makes me feel good seeing that so many don't always achieve all their goals, but they don't let it get them down!  Starting in 2016 I am going to bog each month about my "goals" and I am really hoping I will do better knowing that I will have to follow up on them the following month!  Sometimes we just need to be accountable!  I know for me, it definitely helps!

Like most of you, I have a smartphone, and my iPhone can do just about anything, however I am so old school, and for me, writing things down is a much more effective way for me!

I love a good planner!  I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Simplified Planner !  If you guys are looking for a great planner, you should definitely check it out!

I am loving my Pineapple Planner for 2016!

I love that I have the entire month at a glance, and then each day has it's own page..it has plenty of room for what I need!

I am real good about writing things down and making lists, however sometimes in the rush of things I forget to look at it, and well it all goes south from there!

I have noticed that on the days that I wake up an hour or so before I get the kids up, my days go much smoother.  I love my sleep, so normally I will get up at the last possible minute and I find that I am a crazy, rushing lunatic in the morning!  If I set my alarm for 5:30, I am DEAD tired when I roll out of bed, but I find that after a cup of coffee I am ok...and I really just enjoy my "quiet" time before the craziness starts.  I am starting this whole getting up early thing and I must say even though the past few mornings have been rough, getting up while it's still dark out, I find myself much more relaxed throughout the whole day.

This made me laugh out loud...so funny and so true....

I have definitely let diet and exercise take a major back seat for oh about the past 9 months!  I absolutely HATE working out of any kind, however I am not one of those lucky enough that doesn't have to exercise or watch what I eat...I have to do BOTH...and I haven't...and my clothes can certainly tell that I haven't!  I figured it is almost pointless to get too crazy with the whole dieting thing right now with Christmas right around the corner, but I am hoping to watch what I eat.  I am a firm believer in moderation, I will never deprive myself of anything, and well pretty much since the spring I have indulged in everything!  I am definitely determined to get back on track in 2016.  More so than weight loss, I just want to be healthy and feel good about myself!

2015 was a crazy year for us...and I am really excited to see what 2016 has in store for us!  I know that for me, being organized and having "all my ducks in a row" will help to ensure my year is great!  Would love to hear if you guys have any great tips for being organized, and eliminating stress from the grind of day to day life.  And I am super excited for the new year to share my goals with you each month!

Be sure to check back tomorrow for Friday Favorites!!!!

Holiday Gifts For Girls

Happy Wednesday Ladies!

I feel like this week really kicks off the holiday season for me!  Thanksgiving is like the official start of the holidays for us!  We absolutely LOVE this time of year!  I am super excited to break out the holiday decorations after dinner tomorrow night!

I am super far behind on my holiday shopping!  I have some lists made of who I need to buy for and what I need to get, but I haven't crossed much off that list yet!  Time to get serious!

Today I am talking about some great gifts for little girls!  I love love love my boys, but there is nothing more fun, in my opinion, than shopping for a little girl!

We are still Shopkins obsessed over here!  There will be lots of Shopkins under our tree this year for sure!  Kohls had a great selection online of Shopkins stuff, so if you have a Shopkin lover at your house, check out all the Shopkins Kohls has to offer here .

I loved Lite-Brite as a little girl, and I am so glad this toy is still around!  This will be under the tree for Olivia this year!

Girls, did you play with this as a little girl?  I loved Fashion Plates!  This would be such a fun gift for the little girl on your list!

We are Descendants obsessed over here!  Olivia was pretty annoyed I didn't order her a Mal costume for Halloween..she is really hoping Santa brings her this doll for Christmas.  If you have a little Descendant lover on your list, this doll would be great!

If you have a crafter on your list, this would make a great gift for her!

An American Girl Doll is always a wonderful gift to give.  And if your little one isn't quite old enough, the Bitty Baby is the perfect baby doll!  Brooke loved her American Girl dolls, and now Olivia has a few of her own, and also plays with Brooke's from when she was little!

Just like their mommys, little girls love being cozied up too!  A new bathrobe is a great gift for any little girl on your holiday list!

I know my little girl loves to craft, draw, stamp, pretty much anything like that.  This stamp set I know is something she would LOVE.  I am a huge fan of the entire Melissa and Doug line, such great products!

Little girls and Barbies...not sure it gets better than that!  The Barbie Dream House
is a great gift for the Barbie loving girl on your list!

Cabbage Patch Kids , these will always be a favorite gift of mine to give to a little girl.  I just gave my niece London for her 2nd birthday this past October.  Any little girl on your list who loves babies would love to receive a Cabbage Patch Baby...and don't you just love they way they smell!

I have seen so many people posting videos playing this game...boy or girl...no doubt this woul be a hit under the tree this Christmas!

Olivia LOVES to cook and bake things!  Sadly we weren't huge fans of the Easy Bake Oven...however this mini donut maker would be a huge hit with her...and us as we could enjoy the treats she made!  If you have a little girl that loves to bake this could be a great gift!

Slippers are always a fun gift to give and receive.  Nordstrom has some great slippers for little girls, you can check them all out here .

So there you have it...some of my favorite gifts for the little girls on your list!

If you have a great gift for a little girl, please share it with me!

Here are my other Holiday Gift Posts:

I hope each and everyone of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and are able to spend it with the ones you love most!

Weekend Wrap-Up...Tuesday Edition

Happy Tuesday Ladies!

I cannot even believe it is December 1st already....this year has flown by!

Hope you guys all had a great Thanksgiving weekend!  We had a great weekend, it was low key and just perfect!

Thursday morning we woke up and all watched the parade...it NEVER EVER gets old!  All my kids, in their jammies, around the TV watching the parade, definitely one of my favorite days of the year!  After breakfast and the parade we got dressed and ready to head over to my neighbors!  I was definitely missing my family a ton this year, but it was nice to go next door and share the day with some super great people!

So weird celebrating Thanksgiving with palm trees in the background!

Even stranger...seeing my kids swimming on Thanksgiving!  They were loving my neighbors pool!

This girl was in her glory!

AJ was in on the action too!

Definitely never spent a Thanksgiving like this before!  Though it was "different" than what we are used to, we all had a super nice day, and the most important part was that we were all together!  We are so blessed!

My mom sent me lots of pictures that day...I love this one of Harrison and my nephew Tyler!

I missed all 3 of these people like crazy!

My aunt and uncle came from NJ to spend the holiday with my mom!  Super bummed we weren't there to see them!

Right here in this picture...all the people I love the most in this world!  I really did miss them so much!  Gosh I love my family so much!

We got home from my neighbors and finished watching the Panther's game....hello 11-0!  Loving our Panthers this season!

Olivia passed out early, probably from all that swimming, and we took the boys and headed to Target.  We walked in, looked around for a bit, then quickly left, the lines were ridiculous at the checkout..there was absolutely NOTHING I needed that bad to stand in line for an hour for!

Friday Mark had to go to work, so the kids and I slept in and it was so nice!  No one was up before 10!  We were slow moving, and after lunch I decided to get dressed and head out for a bit!  I was able to pick up a few gifts, so I can now at least say I have started my shopping:)

I stopped in Big Lots and saw this adorable tree skirt and had to have it!  I am major loving it!

Every year, since I can remember, we have always had a real Christmas tree, and I always loved getting everyone in the car and going to pick out the "perfect" tree,,,and sadly it is never the perfect tree, and I stress myself out to the max turning it, trying to find the "right" angle, and Mark gets annoyed with me, and we usually argue a little!  Then there is the major mess, the sap, the needles everywhere, having to water it...so this year I decided to get an artificial tree!  I couldn't believe the prices of artificial trees...I mean HOLY EXPENSIVE!  I guess though you are saving money in the long run by not spending $75 each year on a tree.  Spending hundreds just wasn't in my budget right now, however I am hoping to score the one I want after Christmas for like 50% off, so off to Target I went to get a tree!  Let me tell you about the deal I got....earlier last week all the trees were 50% off at Target, I had called the store last Monday to see how long the sale was good for, they told me until at least the 28th, so I had planned on going this past weekend, so I was good!  I went to Target and saw they were on sale, but no longer 50% off, I spoke to a manager and she told me to tell them at the register I spoke to her and to give me 50% off the tree, I was happy!  I get to the register and tell her, and she says ok....the tree, originally $198, rang up for $101, and she gave me another 50% off the $101...girls I got this tree for like $50....I was beyond thrilled!  HA!

For $50....this will do just fine this year!

Olivia was LOVING it!

These two needed some sparkling cider to celebrate the tree being up!

And seriously...I LOVE this tree skirt!

After getting the tree up and decorated we watched some Christmas movies and we put the kids to bed.  And after they were all tucked into bed.....Buddy the elf made his way back!

The kids were super excited when they woke up Saturday morning and saw all this fun stuff!  I know the boys don't buy into this whole elf thing, but I love how they play along for Olivia's sake...and I know they love it too!

After a yummy North Pole Breakfast we took AJ out for the day for his birthday!  He asked if we could take just him and do something!  We love all our kids, and we love when we get to spend a little one on one time with each of them!  We took AJ to Bass Pro Shops to get a new fishing pole for his birthday, then we went to lunch.  I didn't bring my phone with me, so I don't have a single picture, but it was a great day...and he loved being the center of attention for a few hours!

Saturday night we just hung home, watched college football, and the boys fished!  It was nice!

My night also consisted of wine and this popcorn...I mean who doesn't love those $5 popcorn tins!

Sunday we had planned on checking out a new church, but I woke up with a terrible headache, so I wound up going back to bed and slept until almost 11.  We spent the rest of Sunday hanging out watching football, cooking dinner, baking cookies, watching the boys fish, and getting all the crap ready for school for the week!

This picture isn't super clear...but AJ was pretty pumped about this big fish he caught with his new pole!

And these cookies...they didn't last long!

So that was our weekend...nothing too special, but it was AWESOME!  I loved having my kids home all last week, and I cannot wait for Christmas break!

Be sure to check back tomorrow for some more Holiday Gift ideas!
