Happy Monday Ladies!
There is something so great about starting a new year! I am really hoping to make this year sparkle!
I know many of you are sending your kiddos back to school today...we don't go back until Wednesday, so I am treasuring the extra few, lazy days with the kids! Check back tomorrow for our Weekend Wrap-Up!
Last year, I started doing monthly goals, and well it lasted until about February...this year, I am going to make goals each month, and share them here! I am hoping by sharing them, it will help be with some accountability!
I stopped making resolutions years ago...I mean I would declare my resolution January 1, and well by the 10th, it was forgotten. For me, setting smaller goals, is much more doable and a lot less overwheleming!
Each month when I make new goals, I will re-visit the goals from the previous month and see how I did with them!
JANUARY GOALS
1. Read at least one book
I started reading again this summer when the kids were gone, and I forgot how much I loved a good book. Right now I am reading "The Husband's Secret", and am loving it. Please leave me a comment with a must read!
2. Only drink 1 Pepsi a day
I am a HUGE lover of Pepsi, and I drink WAY more than I should. I am really going to try and limit it to just one each day...not gonna lie..this one is going to be tough!
3. Get to gym at least 3x a week
I am sure this is a popular one for many...I am notorious for signing up for the gym, paying for it each month and going like twice! I just joined the Y, and I am going to make it a PRIORITY to get there 3 times per week!
4. Make finding time with Mark a priority
I know this shouldn't even be considered a goal, it should just be a "no brainer", but unfortunately it isn't:( Our life is crazy busy, and unfortunately I sometimes put him on the back burner, and I know it just isn't right. I am going to make sure I shut down each night, and concentrate on him 100%.
5. Sticking to our budget
We have sat down and created a budget, for like the first time ever, a real budget on paper. We have a few things we would like to accomplish and do this year, and saving is a big key to making it all happen. I am going to start writing down every single penny we spend, and make sure I am sticking to our budget.
So there are my goals for this month! I am going to really try and accomplish each of these goals! Can't wait to re-visit this list February 1 and see how I did.
What are some of your goals for this month?
Be sure to check back tomorrow, I will be linking up with Andrea for the first Show and Tell Tuesday of 2016!
Ahhh I love the new year because it gives us a fresh start! For books...try any Liane Moriarty book, Gone Girl, and The Girl on the Train. With the gym I would say just take it slow. If you start off too strong it can be intimidating. Have a great day, Kimm!
ReplyDeleteI read gone girl and girl on the train this summer. Loved them !!!
DeleteThose are some good goals! I didn't love "The Husband's Secret" (totally flipped to the end to find out the secret!) but I LOVED Laine Moriarty's "Big Little Lies." It's going to be a miniseries with Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman. It's great! I'm also loving Elin Hilderbrand these days- The Rumor and her Winter Street/Winter Stroll series were quick, easy reads. Good luck on your goals! (And enjoy this cold weather- :0)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommendations ! I'm excited for some great reads!
DeleteGood luck with your goals this month! I shared my resolutions on the blog this morning. Have you read Gone Girl or Girl on a Train. Those are so good!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read yours!!! I read both those this summer and loved them
DeleteLooking forward to your monthly goals and recaps!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jen !
DeleteThese are all great goals! Mine are pretty similar, especially the sticking to budget.
ReplyDeleteThe budget is going to be recurring for me each month
DeleteI am starting the year with The Husband's Secret too, only on audiobook on my commute! Elin Hilderbrand is another good author. You should try some of her books.
ReplyDeleteThat's what everyone says. Can't wait to read some of her books !!!
DeleteGURL! The ONLY time I've been able to drink Diet Pepsi was when I was pregnant with Alise. Just can't do it. And I second Elin Hilderbrand. Read The Rumor.
ReplyDeletePepsi is the BOMB! Can't wait to read that one !
DeleteI just finished the Nightingale by Kristin Hannah and loved it.
ReplyDeleteLisa G. McKinney, TX
Thanks for the recommendation Lisa! Have a great day!
DeleteAnything by Kristin Hannah, Elin HIlderbrand, and Jane Porter (who happens to be a friend of mine and her books are awesome.....google her) chick lit is what I adore !!! LOL Good luck with the goals. I will be anxious to see how you do. Girl, I just write down things I want to do every day and am proud when I cross them off and see how much I accomplished at the end of the day! LOL
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to Cheka out your friends books ! How fun! And hey crossing things off your to do list is definitely considered accomplishing a goal ;). Have a good week my friend
DeleteI loved the Secrets of Midwives. I'd definitely recommend it. :)
ReplyDeleteHave you read anything by Lysa Terkeurst? Two by her I recommend: Unglued (controlling your emotions- this was so good for me) and Made to Crave(craving God instead of food etc).
ReplyDeleteI love the Y. My favorite classes are Y Strength and Barre. Not sure if your Y does the same. Going to the classes helps hold me accountable to actually go :)
I have no book recommendations, but, what I did when I was able to get to the gym was to walk on the treadmill and watch tv. Time and miles seemed to fly by that way. lol. Happy New Year! My only resolution this year is to be more about me. Meaning take care of me, say no to a few things, etc.
ReplyDeleteOther Kristin Hannah books I loved include firefly lane and night road but both made me cry!!!
