What's Up Wednesday

Happy Wednesday Friends!

Today I am linking up with Mix and Match Mama , The Larson Lingo , and Pinterest Told Me To for "What's Up Wednesday"...you guys should link up too!

WHAT WE'RE EATING THIS WEEK:
We will be eating all things Thanksgiving....turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole and LOTS and LOTS of desserts!

WHAT I'M REMINISCING ABOUT:
This week I am reminiscing about holidays past with my family, this year it is just us, and I am definitely thinking about all my family back in Charlotte.

WHAT I'M LOVING:
I am loving that it has been cooler here this week, we have had temps in the 70s, a nice breeze, and chilly mornings and nights!

WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO:
The kids have been home from school this week for break, so we have been up to taking the Christmas stuff out!  So much fun!

WHAT I'M DREADING:
I am dreading addressing my holiday cards.  I love sending them out, but UGH I hate addressing them all.

WHAT I'M WORKING ON:
I have not bought one single Christmas gift yet, I am currently working on my lists of all I need to buy!

WHAT I'M EXCITED ABOUT:
This is my favorite time of year, even though it's "different" this year, I am still super excited about the Christmas season!

WHAT I'M WATCHING/READING:
Currently I am not reading anything, however we are pretty much watching Hallmark 24/7 around here!

WHAT I'M LISTENING TO:
I am a HUGE Luke Bryan fan, I also LOVE Little Big Town, currently I am listening to and LOVING the new song "Home Alone Tonight"...if you love country music you need to check this song out!

WHAT I'M WEARING:
The kids have been home all week, we haven't had anywhere to go, so it's a lot of pajama wearing over here!  And I LOVE it!

WHAT I'M DOING THIS WEEKEND:
I am not sure exactly what our plans are for this weekend, but I am hoping to at least start some holiday shopping.

WHAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
Obviously I am looking forward to Christmas, but I am more excited to see Harrison!

WHAT ELSE IS NEW:
Not too much is new over here.  We are settling in nicely to our new home, and finding our "groove" here in Florida!

BONUS QUESTION:
WHAT'S MY FAVORITE CHRISTMAS TRADITION:
The traditions during the holidays are definitely my favorite, more so than all the gifts and everything.  My most favorite tradition is one that my grandmother started many years ago.  We all sit around on the floor on Christmas Eve, and I (I volunteered one year, and I have been doing it ever since) read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas", we all bring something, red or green, not more than $5, wrap it, and every time the word "the" is read you pass the gift.  It is really so much fun and at the end of the story we all open our gifts!  Over the years I have gotten Twizzlers, a six pack of Coke, green tic-tacs, pine tree car air fresheners...just to name a few.  It is seriously so much fun.  Last year we changed it up a bit, we all brought $5 gift cards to like McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, places like that, my mom bought a $50 VISA gift card, when we all got to my mom's, I wrapped all the gift cards, so they were all wrapped identically.  It was so much fun passing them around and it was so exciting to see who got the big prize!

This is nothing major, but over the years it is something that we look forward to each and every year.  I hope that down the road, I am still doing this tradition with my grandchildren!

Hope you all have a Blessed Thanksgiving!

  7. We started that same tradition about the reading of Twas the Night Before.....and passing gift cards.....last year! This year we are doing it with both families but I just read that part about your mom adding the $50 visa gift card and Tony and I both decided to do that at ours! How fun! Have a wonderful and filling Thanksgiving Kimm! I have all my side dishes made! and the turkey will go in mid morning. We like to eat at 1pm, so we can eat leftovers later that night!! LOL
