Happy Thursday Ladies!
I seriously cannot believe we are already into March, 2016 seems to be flying by like every other year!
Today I am sharing my goals for March, but before I get into that, let's see how I did with February!
1. Continue to save and budget...I did Ok with this, not as good as I would have liked! With our little trip to Daytona we definitely spent a little more than we wanted to last month, but it was totally worth it, and we are definitely back on track to really sticking to the budget.
2. Two Family Nights...we definitely did this, and definitely had more than 2! We never broke out any games, but we did spend a lot of time at night, all together watching TV and just having some great conversations with the kids!
3. Read 2 books.....I ready exactly two books last month, you can read my reviews of them here .
4. Got bed earlier and wake up earlier...well I did GREAT with the whole going to bed earlier, during the week I was petty much in bed by 10 every single night. As for the getting up earlier, I did set my alarm, however pretty much every morning, I just hit the darn snooze button. I am definitely going to work on that this month.
5. Look into summer activities for the kids....I didn't do this...didn't even inquire about a single thing. And I am ok with that because after talking with Kenny (my ex-husband) I think the kids are going to spend about 3 weeks with him, so that will pretty much cover the all of Olivia's summer! I know it's bad, but my boys, teenagers, are quite content to have lazy summer days and sleep past noon...fine by me!
6. Be more mindful about what I am eating...I did OK with this...girls I love to eat, and I love to eat junk food, so this will always be a struggle for me. That being said, I really tried not eating anything after dinner, and for the most part I did pretty well with it! Yay me!
Ok...now onto my March goals...
1. CONTINUE TO SAVE & WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING WE SPEND
The whole budgeting thing will be a regular monthly thing for us. We have done pretty well the first few months, but I still think we could do better. I am going to really try and be diligent about writing down every single dollar we spend.
2. STOP HITTING THE SNOOZE BUTTON IN THE MORNING
Like I said earlier, I have the whole getting to bed earlier thing down pat, but man oh man the mornings are ROUGH! I am so bad about sleeping until the last possible second, and then without fail, I am rushing around like a crazy woman in the mornings, trying to get the kids up and ready for school! On the rare occasion that I do get up early, I really find my days go much smoother. Once I am up, I am fine, I just really need to "force" myself to stop hitting snooze and get up. I am thinking about not using my phone as my alarm anymore, and getting a real alarm clock, and place it in my room where I actually have to get out of bed to turn it off!
3. CLEAN OUT ALL CLOSETS AND GET RID OF EVERYTHING WE DON'T NEED/USE
This is probably the job I dread the most. I hate cleaning out closets, and our closets are in desperate need of some TLC...I shove so much crap in mine, and unfortunately my kids do too...they learned it from me no doubt:( I swear Olivia still has things from kindergarten that I know don't fit her anymore)...it's bad! My closet is super jam packed, and seriously half of it I don't even wear anymore. I know I just need to tackle this project and no doubt will feel so much better and lighter once it is complete.
4. MEAL PLAN EVERYWEEK
I used to be SO SO good with this, and well I have sucked big time with it lately. As a busy mom there is nothing worse than scrambling at 4:30 wonder what the heck is going to be for dinner! I need to get back into my routine, where I sit at my desk each Sunday morning, go through my recipes, meal plan for the week and write my grocery list. Life is just seriously so much smoother when we know what's for dinner!
5. TURN OFF MY PHONE BY 8:00 EVERYNIGHT
I don't know about you, but I am BAD with my phone, it sucks me in every single time! I find myself constantly scrolling through IG or Facebook and next thing I know 40 minutes has passed. This is Mark's biggest pet peeve...he hates when I am using my phone at night. I really need to just turn it off and focus my attention to him at night..he really doesn't ask for much from me other than giving him my time and attention when he is home at night. We have a landline, so I know if there is an emergency with my family, they can always reach me even if my cell is off.
6. BOOK A WEEKEND GETAWAY FOR OUR ANNIVERSARY
Our anniversary is in April, and we both decided we need a little weekend away, kid free, to just enjoy each other! We are thinking somewhere in the Keys...so if you guys have any suggestions on the BEST places to stay, leave me a comment!
7. GET TO DMV AND CHANGE LICENSES AND CAR REGISTRATIONS
Ok so we have lived here 4 months and still haven't switched our driver's license or car registrations over yet. I know it is bad! I hate the DMV and it is never easy doing anything with them! I was shocked that we needed a birth certificate to obtain new licenses...we sure didn't need that in NC! So right now I am waiting for Mark's birth certificate to arrive so we can get this handled since both cars are in his name!

ReplyDeleteI'll have to check that out. Thanks girl
DeleteIf you've never been to the Keys before, I would suggest staying down in Key West. It has the widest range of accommodations for all price points depending on what you want to spend on that- you can get something nice pretty much no matter what. The closer to Duval you are, the closer to the action. We love to take a sunset cruise (with plenty of cocktails and fun music). And we love Ricks and Captain Tony's bars. Well, we just love the Keys! We go there all the time and now we take our kids every year. We also love Islamorada but there are less restaurants/hotels to choose from. Each key has its own vibe in a way, but I would suggest Key West as your main base. :)
ReplyDeleteI've only ever been there once when I was like 12! Thank you so much for the info!!! Have a great day girl !
DeleteWe stayed at the Casa Marina in Key West, amazing property with a beautiful beach. Duval Street us a lot of fun at night. Mallory Square has the most gorgeous sunset. I highly recommend doing a jet ski trip around the island. This was one of our favorite things we did there.
ReplyDeleteCracking up that watching TV and talking to your children is considered "family night". Lol
ReplyDeleteGood morning anonymous! Whether we are watching tv together, talking together, playing outside together, whatever we are doing as a family we consider family time. However I am so glad I was able to provide you with a laugh this morning ;)
DeleteIt took me months after our last move to do the DMV thing. I also didn't want to move so it was like a way to hold on to my old state. Still have my old phone number ;)
ReplyDeleteI kept my cell phone my NC number and don't plan on changing it anytime soon. Changing all that stuff over sure does make it official. Thanks for stopping by today have a great day!
DeleteCleaning out closets in something I procrastinate over which is ridiculous as it ultimately gives me so much satisfaction. I just did my daughter's closet a couple of days ago (which was a disaster!) but need to strengthen my resolve and hit my closet--I need to be merciless and majorly purge, at the risk of sounding like my husband, how many pairs of black shoes do I really need!?! Liz at familyoffoley.wordpress.com
ReplyDeleteYour husband sounds like mine! It's such a daunting task but once it's completed it is such a good feeling. Have a great day!
DeleteKimm - you sound like you're running around at hyper speed - slow down a bit. You can keep your phone on, just put it on vibrate and put it in a drawer at 8pm, until morning. As for the wake up alarm - putting it across the room (away from your bed) may help. Every DMV is different - once you get everything together make an appt online, so you don't have to wait in line, etc. I think that family time is best if the TV is off, cell phones and tablets put aside - how about doing jigsaw puzzles, or planning out the spring/summer schedule together?
ReplyDeleteSometimes life just does get crazy ! I hate the dmv I've never been to one that isn't just jam packed. Crazy! I think that everyone has different opinions and views on what family time is and means to them and I respect everyone's opinions. We love watching tv together. For us we love all finding something to watch together. Meal time is a great time for our family, it's a small part of the day when we are all sitting together just talking about the day or reminiscing about old funny stories. Life is crazy and busy, it just is, so whether it's eating a meal together at the table or is all piled on the couch watching tv, I treasure the time we can spend together. Thanks for taking the time to comment. And yes I'm getting an alarm and putting it far enough away that I actually have to get out of bed to turn it off ;). Have a great day Laurie !
DeleteThose sounds like great goals! Girl, you know how I feel about #1...GO YOU!
